Tuscan Rewind Rally 20-22 Mei 2011: Press Release.

THE 2ND TUSCAN REWIND, RALLY ON GRAVEL ROADS FOR HISTORICAL CARS WHICH BRINGS THE GREAT CHAMPIONS AND GLORIOUS COMPETITIVE CARS BACK TO THE SENESE STAGES, WHICH BELONGED TO THE WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP OF SOME YEARS AGO, INCLUDES A HIGHLY SUGGESTIVE ROUTE. TUSCAN REWIND 2011 WILL BE HELD IN MEMORY OF HENRI TOIVONEN (HIS BROTHER HARRI WILL TAKE PART IN THE EVENT), SERGIO CRESTO AND ATTILIO BETTEGA, WITH SOME FILMS BY PIERO COMANDUCCI.

Montalcino. Tuscan Rewind 2011 is progressively being shaped: it is the second edition of the rally which covers the fast and mythical Senese gravel roads, made unforgettable by the World Rally Championship of some years ago, and which will see the return of great champions, famous pilots and fond collectors with many undoubtedly prestigious cars. About twenty days separate us from the event in the surroundings of Siena, which will be held from the 20th to the 22nd May 2011, which will see Montalcino as the suggestive core of the operations and as the start and arrival place. Meanwhile, everybody is looking forward to plunging into the unique and fascinating Tuscan Rewind's atmosphere.

THE TUSCAN REWIND 2011 ROUTE HAS FINALLY BEEN REVEALED
It has all been the fruit of special and accurate trials held by Vito Piarulli (the organiser of Tuscan Rewind with his Motorproject), and with the support of FAMS (Federazione Automotoristica Sammarinese) and Montalcino Motor Sport, and of the Montalcino town administration, and the collaboration of the twice world rally champion Miki Biasion. This year the rally will involve fascinating towns like Montepulciano and Pienza, with the gathering of Leg 2, on Sunday 22nd May, which will be held in Buonconvento, in the same fortress square which once hosted the caravan of the world rally. In the enchanting, natural scenery of these towns, Tuscan Rewind will be held in 2 legs on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd May, running along routes full of rally history. Leg 1 will see the special stage of Sesta (covered three times), Lucignano and the mythical Monticchiello, with two passages each, which will compose the route, while in Leg 2 Castel Giocondo and Asciano will be present, each with two passages, the back bone of the competition. A total of nearly 80 km of special stages, where the historical cars and cars of expired homologation will be exhibited with separate classifications and followed by the Legend Stars, cars of historical interest which have the aim of being a great entertainment, but which will not be tested for their time.

TUSCAN REWIND IN MEMORY OF TOIVONEN, CRESTO AND BE TTEGA.
Twenty-five years ago, in the month of May, a tragic rally in Corsica caused the death, in the burning of their Lancia Delta S4, of Henri Toivonen, emerging star of the world rally, and of his expert navigator Sergio Cresto. Twelve months before, the Italian Rally had mourned the death, again in Corsica, of Attilio Bettega. They were champions that will never be forgotten by those who love rally, and which Tuscan Rewind wants to celebrate with affection.
Thus the evening of Friday 20th May will be dedicated to Henri and Sergio, twenty-five years after, and this will include Attilio. There will be the intervention of drivers and personalities who knew them well, like Miki Biasion, Federico Ormezzano and other champions. But, above all, Harri Toivonen will be present, Henri's brother and esteemed pilot; he does not wish to be absent on this evening in honour of Henry and he will also open the route to Tuscan Rewind.
Piero Comanducci will remember these unforgettable champions with precious historical films, and who is making a special dedication film for the occasion.
A celebratory sticker of Toivonen, Cresto and Bettega will be given to all the crews at the start of Tuscan Rewind to be put on the competition cars.

RALLY DINNER IN THE PRESTIGIOUS FRAME OF TENUTA CAPARZO
Tuscan Rewind has found important partnerships in the area around Siena where the competition takes place. This is also the territory which produces Brunello di Montalcino, a prestigious and excellent wine, famous and appreciated all over the world. The highly convinced partnership of Castello Banfi has been joined by important sponsors who have welcomed the Tuscan Rewind project with enthusiasm. This is the case of Caparzo, one of the most important producers of the famous Brunello di Montalcino wines, just like Banfi and Mastrojanni, wine producers, they also, of high-quality Brunello, and who are a part of the Illy group.
And the splendid Caparzo estate, in the area of Montalcino, will host the dinner of the Rally of Tuscan Rewind, which on Saturday evening will unite all the crews in a pleasant reunion, and will include the much appreciated local specialities.

IN TUSCAN REWIND YOU CAN WIN RALLY LEGEND …
Like last year, it will be the public who decides on the winner, the most spectacular pilot among the Legend Stars cars. In collaboration with Antenna Radio Esse, the competition foresees voting through sms, to be sent to 0039.339.6560628 on the days of the competition, and among all those who have taken part, one name will be drawn and will have the possibility of standing next to a great champion during the shakedown of Rally Legend, an international “historical” event, scheduled from the 6th to the 9th of next October.
