RAC Rally: De Belgen tonen interesse !

De 2010 editie van de Roger Albert Clark Rally (26-29 November) zou er één kunnen worden met een aantal belgen aan de start !

Begin dit jaar werd een afspraak gemaakt tussen de organisatie van enerzijds de Roger Albert Clark Rally en anderzijds de Legends of Spa.

De winnaar van de Legends kon rekenen op een gratis startticket in de RAC. Winnaar Bruno Thiry zal dit ticket jammer genoeg niet kunnen verzilveren eind november. Dus werd er gezocht naar een plaatsvervanger.

Niemand minder dan Arnaud Clause zal aan de start staan van deze prachtige rally op de oude proeven van de RAC. Maar Arnaud zal zeker niet alleen zijn. Ook Regnier Sport Organisation (http://www.escort-rso.com) heeft de deelname van verschillende teams bevestigd. Pascal Regnier, Julian Ellebout en Bruno Lacroix met de Escort MKII. Jean Pierre Ansiaux met de Talbot Lotus en Andre Lausberg met de Opel Gte.

We kunnen deze initiatieven alleen maar toejuichen. Rekenen we daar nog het team Stouf/Erard bij dan zijn er reeds 7 Belgische teams ingeschreven.

De organisatie liet ook weten dat ze aan het onderhandelen zijn met meer dan 20 buitenlandse teams om deze aan de start te krijgen. We houden jullie hiervan zeker op de hoogte.

RAC 2010: The Belgians are coming...

Earlier this year, the Roger Albert Clark Rally media team were guests at the snowy Legend Boucles de Spa rally in the Ardennes mountains and were witness to a spectacular event on the closed Belgian roads. As part of an agreement between this event and our own ‘Roger Albert’ the winner of the Boucles de Spa event qualifies for a free entry on the Roger Albert Clark Rally. Unfortunately, Bruno Thiry who claimed the spoils in Belgium with his Audi Quattro is not able to compete in November but his prize will not be wasted as his place will be taken by Arnaud Clause who stormed to a top twenty finish on that event.

His Belgian Escort won’t be lonely either as the Regnier Sport Organisation have also officially announced the participation of Pascal Regnier, Julian Ellebout, and Bruno Lacroix in their Escort Mk IIs along with Jean Pierre Ansiaux in his Talbot Lotus and Andre Lausberg in his Opel Gte.

In early June, Rally Manager, Colin Heppenstall’s application to run FIA Appendix K vehicles as part of the event in their own class under the Historic Permit was turned down by the MSA on safety grounds so all crews will be competing in accordance with the blue book under a National A permit.

Colin has said that he is very pleased to see an upsurge in interest from overseas competitors for this year’s Roger Albert Clark Rally and has confirmed that he is currently talking to upwards of twenty crews from outside mainland UK who have expressed a desire to compete on the event in November.
